Overview

The Direct Short Service Commission brings specialized professionals — engineers, lawyers, educators, IT experts, veterinarians, and psychologists — into the Pakistan Army as officers for a fixed tenure, allowing the Army to benefit from civilian expertise.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Pakistani citizen (AJK/GB included); dual nationals must surrender foreign citizenship
  • Married or unmarried (varies per advertisement)
  • Age: Generally up to 28 years; up to 35 years for Veterinary (RV&FC)
  • Minimum 16 years education from HEC/PEC-recognized university
  • Science subjects: Min. 60% or 2.5 CGPA | Arts subjects: Min. 50% or 2.0 CGPA
  • No 3rd division/Grade D; maximum one 2nd division/Grade C throughout academic career
  • Must have been a regular (not private) student
  • Common branches: Army Education Corps (AEC), JAG (Law), RV&FC (Veterinary), ICT, Psychology
  • Minimum height: 5'4" (162.5 cm)

Selection Process

Online Registration

Apply at joinpakarmy.gov.pk during the announced period.

Written / Intelligence Tests

Academic and reasoning tests at AS&RCs relevant to the branch applied for.

Physical Fitness Test

1.6km run, push-ups, sit-ups, chin-ups at the AS&RC.

Initial Medical Examination

Health assessment at AS&RC.

ISSB

Full ISSB evaluation over 4–5 days.

6

Final Medical Board

Comprehensive medical at CMH.

7

Final Selection (GHQ)

GHQ compiles merit list; selected candidates receive joining instructions.
